Besides being an artist she....
Like most illustrators, I remember enjoying art from very early on.
I mostly remember drawing large families and creating towns on cardboard, so I could have a place to drive my matchbox cars.
In art, people and patterns have always figured strongly for me. So it seems fitting that I am combining both on this website.
At nineteen, I moved from my native Massachusetts and went to school to study art in California. Little did I know that I would stay there for 20+ years and go on to study textile design also.
While freelancing as a textile designer,
I worked at the Berkeley Public Library which exposed me to children’s books.
It was at this point that I decided to pursue illustration. A course at UC Berkeley extension was a perfect introduction to the field, but I didn’t receive the full training until 2007 when I began my studies at RISD/CE.
Now I am embarking on a new career in children’s illustration and can’t wait to see where it takes me.
More than you ever wanted to know
